Recently a friend and his girlfriend have asked me to take a few 'couple' shots of them, and then some head-shoulder shots of the girlfriend for a job application.
At my disposal is a fairly adequate studio with two large lights, a light-meter, a sync cord, some reflectors, a roll of white paper, and a roll of black paper for backdrops. I was thinking of using chairs, but they're all horrid plastic ones!
Anyway, I'm not an expert at lighting, but I think I can handle it; my main cause for concern is posing. I really need some help with posing these two, so any hints would be fantastic!
----------------------------------------
Later, in the evening, I've been asked to turn up to a 'launch party' for the university student-run writing anthology society ('DAPS'). As far as I know, it's going to be held in a fairly-well-lit bar.
At my disposal are:
Canon EOS 350D
EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II
EF 50mm f/1.8
Sigma 55-200mm f/4-5.6 DC
A Cobra Twin D500 Module O Flashgun
A cheap quick-release monopod
A cheap (but sturdy) quick-release tripod
A very small camera bagI'm thinking of shooting hand-held and taking the 50mm mounted, while keeping the 18-55 in my bag. I've never used a flashgun before, and I'm waiting for it's owner to send me the battery cover, so it's possible that might not be of use anyway!
Any thoughts? I've never done any form of event photography before, so while I'm enthusiastic, I'm also a bit nervous.
Thanks! :D
