The Sigma gets great reviews but it doesn't have IS. This lens would be awesome if Canon made one with IS!

Put a 1.4x teleconverter on a 70-200 f/2.8 IS. That gives a 98-280 f/4 IS which makes a 100-300 f/4 rather redundant.

Same 1.4x add on 300mm F4 lens will make it 420mm :p

I guess. A 100-300 would let you put a 1.4 TC on and get 140-420 at f/5.6. I realized that a 70-200 with a 2x teleconverter would be close to this but from I've seen, the 2x degrades quality to an unacceptable level on zooms whereas the 1.4 does not. Lens also AF much better without a TC too. I don't know, I would rather start at 100-300 and then add TCs from there instead of starting at 70-200. Sigma makes both lenses.

That's a coincidence because i was just going to start a thread about the same wish. With the 100-300 F4 IS and my 24-105 F4 IS. -i would sell my 70-200 F4 and my 100-400 IS. Because with the 1.4 converter it would be a 140- 420. Plus surely it would be lighter in weight and hopefully not push/pull.. It just makes since to me for Canon to make this lens, so you can bet it will never happen lol

Canon just need to upgrade the 100-400 to f/4 with current generation IS.
I'd sell my 70-300 for it, and my girlfriend.

100-400 f/4 IS would be amazing! Paying for one, maybe not so much.....

How about a 200-400 f5.6 IS L with outstanding optical quality, latest generation IS, very fast focusing, wheather sealing and still within a "reasonable" budget?

I want 500mm!
But I'd be happy if that replaced the 100-400mm.

A 100-300 F/2.8 with IS
That would weigh about a tonne.
