Here are few features I wish my Elph s100 was capable of:

Burst mode: a setting that would allow a series of 5,10,20 pictures to be taken as quickly as possible. A varient of this setting would work well for time-lapse photography.

Motion detection: the autofocus and lightmeter could be used as a crude motion detection trigger.

Portrait photo-stitching: as far as I can tell, Canons QTVR software only stitches landscape photos. Portrait photos would result in a larger viewing area (top to bottom).

And finally, a question: Why are digital photos constrained to the same rectangular shape as a film camera? Why impose the cropping a film negative is restricted to? Doesn't the lens of the camera see a round image? Why not record all that data? I understand that the CCD is manufactured in square shapes, but why?
