I just got a new 430ex speedlite flash but I was wondering should I keep it or sell it and get a new lens? and if so what is a good wide angle? macro?

It all depends. If you're looking to shoot a lot of outdoors, the flash probably wouldn't be as helpful.
What lens do you have right now?

I would stick with the flash. Your 50mm will be fine for portrait photography to get a start. The flash will give you some nice opportunities indoors. If you wanted a good new lens, you'd quite possibly be paying more than the 430EX.
Shoot around and figure out where a gap is in your lenses. If you need more reach, look into that at a later time. In the meantime, between the lenses and the flash, you have a decent start.

You got to have a flash... flash is super important IMO.
I have 5 flash units.. and use every one of them.
But your lens can really use a nice upgrade too. The 50mm 1.8 is good for the money, but its crap compared to other lenses out there. Ive owned the 1.8, and never really used mainly due to its lack of accurate focusing. Its just not consistant.

For the record, I agree with everything that was said. However, since you have the flash, there's no sense in returning/selling it to buy a lens to buy flashes again in the future. Work hard, save money, and you'll have new equpiment soon enough.
