When I look in the viewfinder, I see two large pieces of dust. They don't show up in the pictures. When I remove the lens, and look on the mirror, I don't see them. They are there even when I switch lenses. Where are they? Where do I clean?

I know the problem. sometimes they are on the flipping mirror, but normaly they are that small and so hardly to see. another possibility is, that they are in the viewfinder. get another look and watch out again. they are really small!

best regards

what ever you do, don't touch / attempt to clean the mirror

They are probably on the focusing screen. This is visible in the top of the camera lens aperture above the mirror. The dust wont appear on your photos as it's not on the light path to the sensor. The focusing screen is very delicate and scratches easily. Don't use any form of brush or cloth to try and clean it. If you feel you have to clean it then use a blower to remove the dust but don't touch the screen.

You won't see dust in the viewfinder if it's on the mirror.. It's too far away to be in focus.. Same goes for dust on the lens.

You'll find the dust is on the ground glass which can be seen by looking inside the body, up towards the viewfinder. Your eyepiece focuses on this.. (The ground glass has the squares and markings you see when you look through the viewfinder).

You should be able to remove the dust with a bulb blower.. Puff gently on the glass.

Would you like to re-word this?

Obviously it has nothing to do with the lens aperture, and obviously the lens aperture is not above the mirror.

Nope. Aperture = hole/gap/opening according to my dictionary at least. The lens fits into an opening in the camera. That opening can, therefore, reasonably be called a "camera lens aperture". It's all about context...

You still might want to re-word this.

The place on the camera body that accommodates the lens is called the lens mount, and it is not the aperture. The aperture relates to the size of the diaphragm of the lens. You will get somebody confused with your confusing terminology.
