I was looking on B&H today and the 1DS Mark II were out of stock. I might be reading in to this but do you think there is a new Mark III in the near future or is Canon holding out for pixima in 2008.

I think they need to order more :)

Since it is a $7000+ camera, they may just need to restock. I can't imagine Canon stopping production of their flagship camera.

Could be an upgrade coming, or it could simply be that they are out of stock.
I'm pretty sure that they don't keep very many 1Ds II bodies in stock - it's not a high volume seller.

B&H is the largest photo store in the world, right? You'd expect them to have stock, but not a lot. Jessops is the largest photo retailer in Europe and generally only ever carries about ten in stock at their head office, and very often falls into a point where they have none, meaning stores/customers have a short wait whilst Canon supply more. Probably never any more than 35 or so in the network of 300+ stores at any one time I think. I wouldn't read too much into it unless the stock's still not there in like two months time.

I don't worry about such things because there will always be something great to buy. With your gear list, Tareq, enjoy everything you have now. I know I'm having the time of my life with the stuff I've gotten over the last 2 years. Items get restocked whenever. Can't speed things up until they are produced and ready to go.

Interesting as usually they go back in stock, but I do note they still have some new 1Ds in stock, so maybe they are trying to clear those out first.
Or it is a case of limited availability.
- The Angle Finder C kept going in and out of stock for awhile.
- The D60 also kept going in and out of stock, but new copies continued to be available up until the actual release of the 10D.
- I vaguely remember that the 1DsMkII was for the first year bouncing in and out of stock, but seemed to be stable for most of the past year.
I suspect the primary culprit is Canon NOT announcing the 1DsMkIII at PMA, so some folks realised they could wait no longer and went for the 1DsMkII now. Just need a few of those at that price to clear out the available stock until they can get some more in.
