Here are some shots from this week's Penguins-Devils game (3-0 Pens win) Critiques and comments welcome as I dont get the chance to shoot alot of hockey, although it's becoming more frequent.

Very nice shots. Did you have media access?

The Pens have had an amazing second half. I watched the game against Montreal and saw Crosby's goal in the first period. Even after watching the replay I have no clue how he managed to do it.

I was there with the media. The Pens are playing great hockey right now, and while I've seen Crosby a bunch on TV, seeing him that close gives a greater appreciation of his talent...

Very nice shots. Were these through the glass or through holes in the glass?

900spg,

They were shot with no glass at all, the Devils have press positions in boxes at the end of the players benches, great place to shoot as long as you dont mind wearing a hockey helmet and dodging the occasional puck at your head...

DavidEB,

Here is a ballpark, this one was from the Crosby solo skating shot

crosby is so good. Hes from about an hour away from where I live so when I was younger and played hockey our teams would occasionally get to play each other. it was crazy how much better he was then the rest of the players on the ice even from a super younge age.

Really nice shots, I wish mine came out that good!! I'm also wishing Buffalo had press areas like that at the end of the benches, they have one in between the benches but it's small and the angle isn't always what you want. The end of the isle shooting holes hurt to shoot in they're so cramped.

Thanks for postin the settings to...

Those are some excellent shots! I'm a huge NHL fan as well. Although, I grew up in a Boston Bruins loving family so that's who I still route for to this day. :)

Crosby is good, but the comparisons to Gretz are annoying.

He will never be anywhere close to the Great One.

The reason he got 100 pts before anyone else is because players are allowed in the league at younger ages now.

I think you need to dodge the puck a bit int he last photo.

I believe Crosby and Gretzky were both 18 when they entered the NHL. Gretzky also was one of the first that recognized Crosby's skills and has gone on record as saying that he thinks Crosby is the one player that would have a chance to break his records...He also played in a much more wide open NHL (7-8 goals a game average compared to the 5-6 goal average today) and had the pleasure (not that it probably mattered) to be surrounded by some really good talent...(Crosby looks like he will have that now too with Malkin, Staal and Malone) Crosby's good...very good...

This reminds me of a story. A young sports writer was having lunch with a seasoned veteran writer when the topic of Ted Williams came up. The young writer said, "You know, Ted played in a different era. Today, the pitchers are faster, the ball is harder, parks are different. If he played today, what do you think he would hit?" The veteran replied, "Oh, .320, .330 - somewhere in there. Not .400." The youngster came back, "See. I told you - he wouldn't be that great."

The veteran smiled and said, "But you gotta remember - he's going on 80 years old and has had a hip replaced."

:)

haha...that's a great line...it's one of the great arguments in sports and very hard to compare athletes across generations...Gretzky would have been Gretzky in any era...We'll see if Crosby can play 20 years, but right now he's looking good...

Yes - he's looking good. Back to the topic at hand, before I hijacked your thread!!

I REALLY like #1. It is a great shot.
