UK magazine, Amateur Photog. mentions various new Sigma lenses for digital cameras, I.e. only for APS sized sensors.

But in the same issue also mentions that Sigma are to make a 50-500mm (like now) but with OS which is their version of IS. 8)

No prices or dates yet.

Cheers

i'll have to keep my eye open for that. Wonder if the optics are improved at all or just the addition of OS?

50-500 OS?! Cool 8)

Does that mean it will retain it's HSM motor I wonder?

Still baffled by the exclusion of the HSM from there otherwise wonderfull 80-400mm OS :?: :?

If Sigma eventually gets there OS thing straightened out,.

..imagine this line up of SIGMA OS lenses;

70-200mm f/2.8 EX OS
120-300mm f/2.8 EX OS

maybe even 100-300mm f/4 EX OS

And the big primes...

300mm f/2.8 EX OS
500mm f/4.5 EX OS
 800mm f/5.6 EX OS

And the "calladonian" zoom..
300-800mm EX OS

Could be HUGE!

Better yet, Sigma,... OH SIGMA....

Make us a 1.4X T-con OS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering about the 120-300 F2.8EX OS. I might have to swap lenses for the OS version. Although, I wonder what kind of weight it will add...considering as is it, no OS is 5 3/4 lbs! That would be cool to have one as well as the 70-200ish F2.8EX OS. A 1.4x TC OS? That is an interesting idea though, but I don't know about how they'd do it.

If Sigma,. or anyone were to make an IS Teleconverter, the Idea would be that IT alone would incorporate and IS gyro... thus any lens the T-con would fit would have the benifits of IS!!!

That's why i would love to see such a thing.. it would sell like hotcakes... And If Sigma were to make it,. thus it being availble to all SLR mounts,. then all those Nikon Big prime owners would buy them to turn there plain vanilla but high dollar Nikon lenses into IS lenses...

Sigma would not need to make new versions of all there high end EX lenses,. you could just use the T-con.. :)

Maybe make less than 1.4X .. it has to have glass in it and it will stop the aperture down,. so there is little point in making it "0x" but perhaps a 1.2 or 1.1 could be made.

That and the need to cut down on the losses intruduced by TCs. The other idea was that it will have to be sturdy for when you plant the monster lenses on there. Anything less than 1.5 seems a waste to me...at 300 and a 1.2x TC you only gain 60mm. At 100mm you only gain 20mm. Although, you might not loose an fstop of you use a 1.2x. Hmmm....interesting though.
