Same, I use it very often when shooting DJ's... fun if you have a zoom lens and you drag the shutter and zoom in and out you get some really sweet trails.

I agree. I would rather have it been landscape. He did that right at the end of song three as I was starting to move out of the pit. That's how I was holding the camera at the moment I reacted to it. Just glad I didn't miss it entirely!

Ya, my PP created that in CS5. It came out of ACR looking fine. I have thought of going back and "fixing it" but I actually had some positive comments about the "effect" .

My problem is, once I have finished PP'ing an image, I rarely go back and redo it unless someone pays me ;-) I should fix it, though.....sigh

I took some pics this weekend with my 5D and Sigma 50mm 1.4 and was pleased with most of the results. I'm curious how the 85 1.8 works in low light conditions with rocking musicians? What shutter speeds are you guys shooting to freeze the action in low light? I hate to crank my ISO too high.

1/125 or more.
You can remove noise, but you cannot remove motion blur…

On any modern DSLR, ISO 3200 is perfectly usable.
I wouldn't hesitate to use ISO 1600 or 3200 on a 5D classic.

I think I was shooting at least 1/125, probably faster on some shots. Thanks for the tip, I'll boost the ISO next time and get closer to 1/250 and see what happens.

LOL talking about using a 50 or 85mm lens....My pics (previous page) were taken in the 200-300mm range with my Tamron 28-300mm lens. Usually around f/6 to f/10. And shutter varies between 1/80 to 1/200 depending on the stage lighting and movement.

At the Jason Aldean concert it stated "No professional cameras" So I took mine apart (lens/body), and took the battery grip off, and hid it in my friends purse to walk in. And when the concert started, I put it together and took pics. The people behind me enjoyed my 300mm pics from where we were :cool:

Travis should be honored anyway. Ok, not honered maybe but grateful. Its not like he packs in the big stadiums anymore. Any pics of his concert is a gift. Although it was packed at ~500 people. It's kind of sad in a way; we all have the shinning moment in our careers, then we just hold on as long as we can to make a living.

I enjoyed the concert very much and my ex-wife who I treated to the event as well. She enjoyed even more.

That was my feeling when I took the shot, he looked like he was thinking "what is that big camera doing in here?" I was using an 85mm prime and was literally right in front of him and I waited until he was right in front of me before I snapped it.
