I've been contacted by a marketing company who wanted to work with a freelance photographer for a marketing campaign of a consumer drink. Just trying to figure out what do I charge for say 6 photos which are of people to be used in campaigns in print, posters, pos etc., mag. Not sure what to charge for the photos and what are the issues regarding the copyright of the photos afterwards. Never done any kind of work like this before, would be a massive op for exposure, but would like to be compensated fairly for the project. Any help would be great thanks

Read this book: ASMP Professional Business Practices in Photography It has extnsive guidelines to arrive at pricing depending on how,and in what the images will be used. It also covers copyright issues
It is published by the American Society of Media Photographers, You do not have to be a member to get the book.

Don't be fooled into giving them a price break for the exposure that you mention. No doubt that they will be a great addition to your portfolio that can be used to show future customers but it is highly doubtful that your name will appear in the advertisements anywhere. Take a look at any marketing material, magazine advertisements, etc., how many photo credits do you see there. Some companies will use this pitch when trying to get you to offer them a lower price, particularly when they know that you are just starting out.

Are they going pass any savings that they obtain onto the final customer. Highly doubtful.

The resource that you have been given is good. Charge them the going rate.
