Its a "wicket" effectively the same as an out in baseball. In getting an out you can hit any or all of the 3 wickets (the wooden sticks behind person with the bat) with the ball, you can also be caught out etc.

It would take to long to explain the rules of the game of cricket.

Cricket is an entirly sensible. Some would say it is the most civilised team game there is. How many sports stop for tea? :)
