Ive recently purchased a MAGICSTOR 2.2 gig Type 2 CF card for my camera. I had trouble formating the card with the camera, but was eventually successful. Now the camera will not switch on with this card, but is still OK with my other 128mB cards. Does anyone have any ideas please? I have notice a difference in operating voltages ie camera 7.2v - Magicstor card 5.0v +/- 5%
Thanks Ken :?:

Return the Magicstor. It is junk and it is most certainly NOT compatible with the 10D. :(
A few of us here tried them the moment they were availble (under $200.00 for a 2.2 gig card you bet I tried it!!!! )
But the trials all proved to be complete failures... they were all returned.

Listen to CDS! Magicstor 2.2GB are the Devil's work  I had one. Horrid thing.
If it didn't work at all for you then you are lucky. The flip side would have been that it could have worked, sort of, and then lost all your photos.
If you want a microdrive, buy IBM or Hitachi (the 4GB Hitachi is kinda slow in the 10D BTW - don't buy it to do sports shooting).

If you have genuinely lost that money then I feel for you :( Can you not return the item to the vendor and get either your money back or a credit note towards a memory card that you can use?

( I bet you think I got more mony than sense) :D

Cadwell advises buy an IBM. 1gig card is available on Net for £99. Is that a good buy, and has anyone tried that card :?

I've had one for a couple of years. No problems with it in my previous Fuji camera or the 10D. Not quite as fast as some of the solid state CF cards, but of course it's about half the price. Nowhere near as slow as the glacial 4GB microdrive (although to be fair to Hitachi, that's more the 10Ds problem than the drives).
£99 seems a fair price in "rip-off Britain". Our friends across the pond will no doubt get it for a third of the price.

Don't let the folks on here hear you say that. Before you know it they'll have talked you into spending thousands on horribly expensive (albeit rather nice) Canon "L" glass and you'll be living off beans on toast for the next year! :P ;)

I wouldn't use it in the Ipaq either,. then you are setting your self up for even more "unlucky"
The Lucky part is that if you return it now,. or even throw it in the Thames, you won't loose any data.
If you use it in the Ipaq,. well,. you won't be so lucky in the long run.

It sounds like you do.
If at all possible return the card and exchange it for one that will work on your camera.
I use a Ridata 52x 2GB CF card in my HP iPaq, I backup the entire card to a folder on my PC before going out with my camera. If I need more storage for the camera I can borrow the iPaq's card, format it and take a hell of a lot of photos. When I get home I transfer the images, then copy back all the MP3s and other stuff from the backup folder, then I put it back into the iPaq and everything is good.
Of course I don't usually need to borrow the 2GB, unless I fill both 512MB cards AND find that the X's Drive Pro battery is flat. But I like to cover all possibilities. (I don't generally need my 4 batteries either)

From what I saw and read, looks like Magicstor has a new version of the 2.2GB card. On the website, they have a compatibily list and the 10D is on it. Where as the 10D was not on the previous version's list (aparently).
Don't get me wrong, I would advise not using Magicstor, at the very least until they have a better track record.
I just picked up my third 1GB microdrive on EBay for $75.00. I love them! The cost savings can not be ignored. Of course, at $75.00 the auction was a "buy it now" and only lasted for nine minutes, but there are currently ones listed, "buy it now" for $110.00.

The problem ur having is that you're using a 10D not a D10. I have not seen that one out made by Canon...maybe sometime in the future??? :)
