i have read the ads and i have read some positive reviews but was wondering if any of you have one...i am planning on buying a 10D or dig rebel for my vacation and so the lens seems on the money when it comes to weight and range but it will mean nothing if the images are not sharp...
thanks for your opinions and options

I have one and I don't like it. I'm going to sell it. My 15 year old Sigma 70-300 f/4.5 gives sharper images than the Tamron. I bought a Canon 28-135 IS for travelling instead.

I have one. I love it, but I don't have any other lenses to compare it to except the one that came with my rebel. Maybe I'd hate it if I had something else to compare it to. 300mm kicks a**. I agree with the other poster that the shots are not that sharp when I zoom in, but I've yet to use it on a tripod, so that might not be a fair observation. The thing I like best about it is that it is small. It doesn't look like a lens that can extend to 300mm. You'll still need another lens, because the chip ratio 1.6:1 makes the 28mm a little too zoomy for stuff like party snapshots.
