Well I finally had a model shoot AFTER getting my new Sandisk Extreme IV 8GB CF cards.
First: they worked very well as far as the card was concerned, so good to go for trip.
Second: I noted that they slow down as they fill up. I start with the camera saying I can take 403 Images and get about 500+ on a card when done, but when the camera is saying I have less then 70 left (which is about 85-90 in actual images left) it starts slowing done and the last 20 or so are starting to noticeably slow down.

If I were guessing I would say 8MB/s at start, 7MB/s at 3/4 full, 6MB/s at 7/8th full and 5MB/s at 9/10ths full. Even at its slowest the 8GB CF cards are till faster then the 4GB SDHC class 4 card I have.

No problems with computer transfers (although I suspect I could maybe use a faster card reader now, but faster per GB then my current 2GB Ultra II CF cards which take 3-5 minutes to download when full, while the 8GB cards took 12-15 minutes or 3/4th the time.

The only negative is I am not sure they are an improvement for the actual shoot itself as with the 2GB cards there was a natural break in the action, although I often would have liked larger cards, so I am guessing I may actually pickup some 4GB cards later as that would seem to be the optimum size. I reserve judgement until I have a couple more shoots under my belt to see if I adjust naturally or need the help.

On a side note: I will keep mentioning that I am not getting another SDHC card until they have a class 10 speed card. Class 4 is just way too slow for my needs.
