View Full Version : Do I have to do the work until now all again?

I am using EE since a few weeks now and I am absolutely happy with this outstanding piece of software. Thank you, Pekka!
Here my question: Up to now I only displayed the "normal" (560x) size of the photos in my EE, but I intend to offer also a "bigger" size (800x) in the future. What will happen with the detailled information of the existing photos when I run a complete resize session? A lot of them are treated in a time-consuming way manually and not just read from the exif info! Would I have to do this all again? :(
Kind regards,
J.

EE 1.5 does not have "add new sizes" or "replace sizes" functions (only for thumbs). But when I'll add this function it will only add or replace sizes and not touch the database at all, exept adding new paths to photos if needed.
Currently adding a new size involves some steps:
- create a new path (folder) to server
- add that path to path editor
- upload photos using normal ftp client to the new folder
- go to photo editor and select the new path and save, OR use "find size paths" tool for automated size search (keep in mind this will replace all custom path systems with "all selected").
Just make sure filenames match exactly with the ones which are in database.

Doing it with this method means that I have to resize and watermark the photos manually (=without the efficiency of ImageMagick) before I upload them via ftp? Is this right, Pekka?

Yes, using Photoshop (you can make resize/sharpen an action) or any other decent photo editor.

As always, thank you, Pekka, for your response in cyberspeed!
