Hey All,

Every now and then im challenged with a photo to take like this...

Any ideas how to get the background brighter, im sure there must be a way as i have seen many shots brighter than this one... im shooting at ISO 1600 or H (3200) at maximum aperture and exposure compensation and bouncing the flash...

Help needed...

Yeah, large rooms require more lighting. Can you use the transmitter and 2 flashes on stands with umbrellas? That works for me.

Can yo usend me an example? I have multiple flashes and stands so thats no problem at all :-)

Could you have two photographers RF-ing to the flashes at the back, so no matter what photographer shoots the flashes still go off? Im thinking 580 speedlights yes?

You can always adjust the settings on the back of the 580s. I have the 580 and 430 so I just use the transmitter on my 5D to set them off. Without cords or cables to contend with, this set up has been effective for me.

yeah you could do it via IR, or RF. RF is more reliable though. I shot with another photographer this weekend and he used some cheepo ebay RF pocket wizard knokck off and it was much more reliable than the canon IR ST-E2 unit I was using.

As long as you're on the same channel you should be able to make it work with mroe than 1 camera, but keep in mind the recycle time, so if someone else shoots then you go to shoot, you may not get a full or any flash

Jason I was shooting a large hockey tournament and the lights were not working. Luckily it was daytime in the caribbean.

I got out the pocketwizards and set them at the end of the rink. Not unlike the far left corner of this room you've pictured. Set my on camera flash to ettl but let the pocketwizard fire off the sync port. The far-end flash was aimed where it need to be (for you maybe ceiling) and it filled the shot nicely.

So ya, remote radio flash.

Once down there though the radio signal can fire a 580 set to master and any other "in sight" Canon IR slave units will fire in M mode easily.

The ST-E2 signal won't go that far down the room sadly.

Yes, if the RF units can share a channel without conflict like the pocketwizards. eBay slaves I'm not sure about.
