Hello everyone, I'm constantly having to try "new things" which is fun but also time consuming since entering this new world we call DSLR, LOL! I'm doing batch work to archive and post to web. I'm trying to evaluate DPP vs. PP Elements 5.0 (I do have Lightroom too) For DPI setting...a good number for both? The archives I'll dump to DVD, it says 1-10000 in DPP, I just tried a couple (before any additional noise removal-I do have it set on now in DPP) at 1000dpi=5-10MP which is OK for DVD but web? Also, what size for web resize? I've done 800x600 but it seems too small..

We need to straighten out two concepts: First, dpi is a meaningless number unless you are printing and even then it is usually not used if the printer does "fit to page". Nor does dpi affect file size - that is determined by pixel resolution, bit depth and format. The dpi number can be anything. For archiving I think the consensus here is that you should always preserve the RAW and if you have an image on which you have done extensive editing I would archive it as a native resolution, 16 bit tif or PSD in a wide gamut in order to retain maximum data.
Second, for web posting 600x800 or 533x800 are good sizes which will occupy about 2/3 of most people's screens.
