Has anyone watched this before? It looks interesting to me. I couldn't seem to find anyone talking about it when I did a search here on the forum. Go watch the preview, tell me what you think.

Will be interested to hear about #2. I got #1 quite cheap on ebay, suspect it was a copy but looks perfect.

I've finally had time to watch the second. It's every bit as well done as the first, but it's focus isn't as clearly on wedding photography as the first.
The segments on David Oliver, Rob Heyman and Yervant are more geared towards portraits. David Beckstead, Jerry Ghonis and Marcus Bell talk more about their wedding work.
That said, my favorite two to watch are David Oliver and Rob Heyman...so far. Very talented and inspirational. I am big fan of several of the photographers on the first MOWP (how about that acronym?) video, but I think the photographers in the second are more talented in an artistic sense than the first group.
Not to knock any of the guys in the first...particulary Joe Buissink and Yervant, but David Oliver and Rob Heyman produce some powerful work and it's nice to see them in the process of creating it.
So I highly recommend it if you're the type that would buy a book containing a collection of prints of a photographer you admire, but not so much if you're looking for a purely educational video. It's very inspiring to create artful photography, but not in a technical sense. Get the PhotoVision DVD's for that.

I saw a glimpse at focus in feb this year - the second one looks as good as the first - they are very expensive - although they are offering a deal on buying the 2 together.

Thanks for the advice. If I can find them used, I'll buy them. They're just too expensive new.

on masters of wedding photography, Martin Schembri's one, his son ryan who is helping him, towards the end of the clip, he's holding a portable light while Martin is taking the shots and they came out just amazing IMO.
could anyone tell me what kind of light that is he's holding. is it battery powered or what. its something that interests me.
thanks

Ive just ordered 1 and 2, quite pricey for a couple of DVD's but they always charge more for specialist subjects like this, besides which the nice exchange rate atm with the dollar makes them look quite reasonable. :)

theres different 5 photographers. its a kind of documentary type feel to it. each are on for around 22mins and a cameraman follows them around while they work and you see what type of shots they get etc. they also discuss a little bit about themselves etc. to me its definetly informative and gives an insight into what these guys are thinking while working.

I think as a hobby it could be quite reasonable if you stick to cheap lenses etc, its when you start wanting to take it a bit further and start earning money from it that its gets expensive, myself and my mate have spent about £14,000 on kit since we decided to setup to shoot weddings and that dont include some of the PC/MAC hardware we already had.

too true. this is something i want to venture into as well. have a 17-55 ordered so will be expecting that come fri hopefully. ive been emailing some local photographers in a hope that i could possibly assist them and gain experience from them, plus i have my friends wedding im shooting over in spain in sep so that will be great also. ive realised that its not something that happens overnight, i guess i have to be patient.

I have the first one and it was great. Having seen it enough times I'm looking to sell it for $75 shipped if anyone is interested.
