DragonForce toured with Killswitch Engage. I had just picked up my creds about 2 mins before they went on stage. Good timing...;)
DragonForce had a lot more front lighting than Killswitch Engage did. All shots were on iso 800. 17 35mm L used. Again, no EXIF because these are the JPG previews from the RAW files. Rest of them are here (http://www.evolutionfotos.com/galleries/dragonforce/).

These are real good pics...
Is this all within that one song limit? Very good..
You ought to post the jumping/leaping piano player in the; Favorite piano/keyboard player thread, too...

Good going, they're rather energetic, aren't they.
On the more critical side, I'd like to see a couple more faces in this set. Also, in 1, 2 and 4, I'd have aimed for a cooler color temperature.

Great shots, they're very DragonForce. I missed them last time they came around.
ps DragonForce is so much better than KSE, its not even funny.

16-35 is the newer model of the 17-35

Be sure to shoot your 17 35 wide open in a test environment so you know where the distortion begins. Not all are the same but just so you wont get any dissappointing shots.
The venue is Verizon Theater, one of the few major venues in Houston. Approx. 4ft wide barricades, with lotsa security guards for crowdsurfers. Lots of room to shoot.
RAW files have a small jpg preview embeded in them. They usually follow the in camera settings like, sharpness, contrast, etc. Photo Mechanic software has the capability to rip these jpg's out. So essentially, these images are straight out of the camera, not processed, just resized. I think these are typically utilized by PJ's or sports photogs. I just used it because I was in a hurry and had no time to process them.

Distortion? You mean softness? I don't think it distorts pictures any more wide open than stopped down. (EDIT: now that I recall some of what I've read about that lens, you mean probably color distortion (CA), yes?)
Btw, I've never gotten any disapointing pictures (... disapointing because of distortion/softness ...) with my cheapish Tamron 17-35/2.8-4.0 and 5D.

These are great - I really love the jumping shot and the colours are amazing in all of them. The movement in the guy's hair looks awesome.

Big fan of Dragonforce myself, wish I had the chance to photograph them when I saw them live. Yes, there are trampolines on the stage which they get girls to bounce on. :D
Great photos, although I would like to see their faces a bit more - they have great expressions most of the time when playing.

Love the last shot. Maybe crop off the second guy?
A bit more faces would have been nice.
