I have been contemplating taking my studio strobes (AB's) to the next wedding I shoot to use as fill light in the reception area indoors. For example, shoot them straight up at the ceiling for bounced light. I'd trigger them with my PocketWizards.

How many of you use studio strobes for this type of thing, and do you have any pointers or suggestions?

Thanks,
Bob

I've seen people here doing that with Speedlites so if you don't mind the portability issues (size, power cord etc.) then it should work. Just make sure that the power cord is out of the way and/or taped to the floor.

What about if you have one speedlite? I am doing some weddings in the next few months (my first weddings) and I am pretty confident about the formals and ceremony, but for the dark reception stuff - I am clueless....

I have one Sigma Super Flash EF500.........could this do bounced into the ceiling?

You might want to pick up another flash. Not only for your own flexibility, but it's nice to have a backup in case you break one.
Then if you have two, you can set one up as a slave if you wish, though I don't know how well the sigma works with canon wireless ettl.
