The B&G had a photographer friend of theirs to do all the shots. I received my camera the day before!! as a gift!!! Had NO clue how to use the darn thing, but figured, what the heck- give it a shot!!! its not like my photos are going to be used to commemorate the day!!!!:D After they came outside to take a break, and the photog went to get a new roll of film, I posed them near the columnes and took these.

Here are 2 of my favorites....

Pretty cute for just getting your camera. Did something happen w/the photog's film? Hope they got their money back. :(

Not bad for first pictures on the camera! My $0.02 is that the groom's feet are cut off in the first shot. Other than that, really nothing to complain about...

How can it be that not a single photo came out good? It is something fixable in post processing?

Love these shots and am saving them for inspiration - Thanks for sharing.

Some improvements:
maybe include the groom's feet in the first
Fill flash on the second
Unlock the bride's elbows and have her back support her weight in the second to reduce the size of her arm muscles.

Digital has that great advantage over film that the possibility of screwups is less. The places where digital photograhy can go belly up arfe generally:

1. Card insertion error. If the card isn't properly inserted then that can cause problems.
2. Card reading error - the card not being fully inserted or the power failing as the card is being read can lose the data on a card. My mother-in-law lost a complete XD card full of photos - I never could figure out what happened or how to rescue the data.
3. Hard disk crash when processing the images. Generally it's a good idea to keep the photos on the card until they're on your backup media.

Then there are the camera failures, memory card failures, battery failures.

The advantage over film is that unknown 3rd party people are not in charge of your images. Would you really trust a $30,000 event to somebody paid $5 per hour? That's what you do every time you send a film off.

Green nail varnish and sandals? Was this a new-age wedding?

She was a 'free spirit' kind a girl. used a 35 mm, no flash, and NEVER adjusted anything on her camera. Since we were near the front of the church, i was able to watch her.

At first, i was like "wow, cool, film camera, no flash. She must be good!!!"

it was a shame, too, because she had a lot of effort. She was on the ground, getting all kinds of good angle shots.

From what I heard, her photos turned out all black and gray. the only ones that came out were some outdoor shots.:(

LOL!!! It sure was!!!!
Ya cant 'really' tell it, but she had magenta streaks in her hair, too!! if ya look hard enough, you can see a touch of the red/pink....
her wedding colors were lime green and pink. i will have to see if i can find a better pic somewhere!!!!!!!!

Shudda stayed on her feet and got good exposures

There is a competition sometimes seen last year on Canadian TV where they gave a group of a dozen professional portrait (think edgy shooters) one single roll of film .. nothing else.

And they were given a professional model to work with and at the end of this competition the prints were judged and a winner was named. And yes, there was one pro whose whole roll was underexposed by something like 6 stops .. totally unrecoverable. So it can happen to anyone I guess but on national TV it can't help your business.

Pretty stunned not to at least be in the ballpark on your exposures ..

thats why some of us get paid the big bucks... I shot film for years and I can't honestly think of one advantage film has over my 30D. The only thing I shoot film for is infra red or slides to do polaroid emulsion transfers. It did help me to understand the importance of proper exposure if nothing else.
