As I prepare to enter the Wedding Photography world and am thinking about things to include in a package, one of the things I have been considering is a slideshow on DVD/CD. One I have been told to consider is FlipAlbum...but I am concerned it looks a little cheesy.
What program do you use?

I've been using ProShow Gold for the last couple of years and have found it to be very good.
You can check it out at Photodex (http://www.photodex.com/)

Every body raves about "show-it web" slideshow software and the results are really good - I have a client who recently specificaly asked for a web slide show after seeing a show-it slide show on another photographers page. Now, as far as putting that show onto a DVD, the authors of that application are setting it up so that you have to depend on them to make a playable dvd and I'm not sure the cost of that slice of the pie has been announced yet.

Awesome - glad you and your clients are enjoying them! :)
Sorry we had to make the decision for it to be an "Outsourcing" option. We know that bummed some people out but we're trying to keep the price reasonable.
We're expecting a "Full-Service" option to be around $50 meaning that once you upload the show you don't have any more work to do and you can sell the show for as much as you'd like. The official numbers and info will come next week at WPPI.
Rock on!

Proshow Gold for me, the latest version creates DVDs and web flash shows quick and easy. I'm yet to try Show-It-Web, but it looks very good at what it does. I hope David adds an option to create a DVD without sending it to a service later, I guess that's a decision around his chosen business model.

Ive used pro show gold a few times and then I bought Showit a few days ago and I am very impressed with how quick it is to throw a show together, being able to create the timing and music templates before hand is perfect because then all you need to do is dump the photos into it and your ready to rock, were certainly going to use it for our slideshows at the weddings this year and also getting a show up on our blog straight after the wedding, its ideal for this. Proshow gold is pretty good at this also but showit is definitely quicker and easier to prep stuff before hand ready for the photos, I think Por Show Producer allows you to do this also but I havent used that so cant say for sure.
We have included a slideshow in our standard package this year and previously we have created this in Apple iDVD and were evaluating whether we would do it in future in Pro Show Gold instead but havent made a decision yet. I like the idea of outsourcing the production and shipping etc of the DVD but I arent convinced we would use showit for this for the same reasons we wouldnt use pictage, because its USA based and aimed at USA photographers and clients (except for Canada and Mexico of course). On top of that the price for the DVD reprints wouldnt work for us even if it were just $50 because with shipping thats still more than what we sell extra copies at. Dont see any point trying to sell them for more than that or people just copy them because the price isnt realistic, everyone has a mate with a DVD burner these days even if they dont have one themselves.
Will still keep a watchful eye on the showit DVD feature to see what the final offering looks like and also keep hoping for a pictage.co.uk site to appear, although to be honest we use photobox in the same way as pictage is used in the states anyway, just doesnt have as many bells and whistles.

..Right on! We're all about FAST. :) Also, we're working with a potential Europe distributor so we'll do our best to serve you and your market as well once we get our system worked out. Also, duplicate copies are way cheaper than the original one because the first copy is the one that takes us as couple of hours to make but after that it's cheaper.

Sounds great DJ and we will deffo keep an eye on what developments come along from you guys, my background is manufacturing and so I am all for lean processes, outsourcing and adding value wherever possible !
Really looking forward to our first gig of the year (April 14th) and seeing how well the slideshow goes down at the wedding, weve only stuck a couple of test ones up on our blog so far but the reception they have tended to get is "wow thats great" so it will be nice to see peoples reactions first hand.
