I've been using a Sigam 500 flash with my D300 with not very satisfactory results, inconsistent exposures,etc..
Now the shoe of this flash is broken, so I have to buy a new flash.
I'm hesitating between two posibilities, buying a second Sigma, so I can use the old one with the broken shoe as an slave flash, or buying something else.
As far as i have read in this forum, the Canon 500 is more expensive and also produces inconsistent exposures. So I'm considering the possiblity of comming back to the good old times of the Vivitar 283 and its automatic sensor.
Have any of you experience about how it works in the Canon digital cameras?

You cannot go wrong with 550EX. 420EX is also a possibility, but, as you know, there is no flash exposure compensation.

The 550EX may even trigger the Sigma 500 you have as a slave??

I'm not 100% positive,. but I thik I remeber correctly that the Sgma 500's will work with the 550EX if the Sigma is the salve....

The Canon flash of course will ignore the Sigma, so the Sigma has to be the slave (and really,. isn't that how it should be?)

Anyway,.. this is what I remember,.. does anyone have expeirience with this? (not too many Sigma flash users on this forum...)

Yes, the Sigma 500DG Super will slave to the Canon 550EX or ST-E2 controller.
