Hi everyone. Recently purchased the A70, one problem, my pc won't recognise the camera. I've got it plugged into a USb port. Have tried everything to solve the problem. Any suggestions? Can I use anything else apart from the USB port?

Thanks in advance.

Buy a $20 card reader. It plugs into your USB port in place of your camera.

Make sure cam is plugged into a REAR usb port (not one on the front of PC), try disconnecting other usb devices and restarting your computer before connecting cam. Make sure cam is turned on and set to the Replay (blue arrowhead) mode. If this doesn't resolve the problem - what OS are you using?

You'll need at least Windows 2000 to recognize your camera without installing any drivers, and in 2000 and XP it should work OK.

Thanks for your replies, I'm in XP. I'll try installing a driver for the cam.

There is a driver on the Canon site under downloads. The driver must be loaded before the computer will recognize the camera. I found I have to click on "My Computer" or run one of my photo programs before the twain driver is activated. I can tell it gets activated because my scanner goes through a self test.
