I have the opteka grip for my 350D, it has been on since the camera was new (6 months) and has been off once or twice not recently. used the camera yesterday all ok, picked it up today, wont power up, tried removing battery tray and CF and re-inserting, no joy, took the grip off put the battery in direct fired up no problem. Does anyone have any experience knowledge of this problem and how to cure it. I wouldn'tmind but i have 4 new sterlingtec batts on the way to assist with my new IS lens power hunger!:mad:

Try a different battery slot.

Remove battery tray and blow out any dust or debris from inside the grip.

Make sure all the gold contacts on the grip and battery tray are clean, straight and fully extended.

See if the AA battery tray works. If it does, then the problem is with the rechargable battery tray.

There is a little notch on the back left side that slides over to the right to let a AC adapter cable come through. Make sure this is totally closed. Otherwise it disables one of the battery slots. I found that out and almost freaked after spending a half hour messing with it. It is at the edge of the grip where the tray comes out.

I have the Mercury After market grip and it has happened to me twice in about 9 months.

Checked this it seems in order, also tried the AA battery tray no joy either. It's as though the grip has gone from hero to zero in switching off of the camera. I have blown all dust and checked all the contacts, is it possible one of the wires within the camera insertion part has fried. Will check all with a MULTIMETER when I get my hands on one.:(

Thanks everyone for your advice!
