Does anyone have any focus problems in low light. Pictures are almost always soft and are slightly out of focus. Daylight they look great. I'm using a 16-35 l-usm lens and a 550ex flash. Any suggestions ?????? Thanks......James

You need to use the AF in SINGLE SHOT mode and make sure that the camera is using all of the focusing recticles (although having just the middle one enabled MAY work, I'm not sure.) Anyway with this configuration, and the 550EX flash of course; the 10D will now focus in total darkness. But if the AF is on AI Servo or AI Focus, it won't work.

Using the Center focusing point only, works for me. Are you sure that the AF assist light on the 550EX is coming on? You can check by holding your hand in front of the red plastic on the flash when you 1/2 depress the shutter.

Make sure that C.Fn-05 is not set to 1.
