A couple of pictures of the Grey-crowned Crane while we were in the Masai Mara. All taken with Digital Rebel XT and Sigma 100-300 (some may have 1.4 TC) C&C always welcome.

Whoa John, these sure aren't zoo birds. Very nice shots and the bird is gorgeous. :)

Thank you for the comments. I really liked these birds, we only saw them in the Masai Mara. We saw them on a couple of different days and it was really cool when they flew right at us and landed next to us. I couldn't zoom out fast enough!

Thank you for your comments. I really do like the 100-300, great lens. Unfortunately I am really itching for the Canon 500 F4!!

Wow, haven't checke in for a couple of days. Thank you all for the comments. I am glad to see so many enjoy these pictures as much as I do. They really are an interesting bird.

Bet you had a great trip to Kenya! I went there in 1984. It was fabulous. Just wish I had the equipment then that I have now.

It was a great time. We are going to save up again so we can go back. I am definetly going to go back, just a matter of when.

This is the first time i saw these birds photographed in the wild, and you did a fantastic job John. #1 is worth publishing in National Geographic. Love the inflight too.

It really was great being there. It is a pretty large area with lots of different wildlife.
