I am not trying to pimp my site, I just want to get some reaction to the speeds while i still have the option to cancel. I have dealt with so many crappy hosts, just want to make sure I got a good one this time.

Photos load quick, but main page doesn't link to anything.

It comes up fast with cable, but you might reduce the image sizes to around 100KB for those without it.

First time I loaded each pic, it would come up in less than 2 seconds. You might want to post up a really large picture so that you can do some throughput measurements. With the 200k pics, it is difficult to time. Put up a nice big 10-15 meg TIFF file and we can then time it better

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

I'm actually at work on a high speed LAN (T1, T3, who knows!)... didn't think of that when I answered

The golden rule is that no webpage should be over 100k in size. Many people still use dial-up. My wife, for example, uses a Verizon dial-up card in her laptop when she wishes to look something up and she's not able to access a wifi network. That gives a 14.4k connection speed. Even with patience, 100k takes a while. By my calculation, 100k (819200 bits) will take about a minute to load. Your website has to cater for that kind of speed. This is why I would suggest instead of putting a big image on a page you put text and clickable thumbnails instead.

File took 28.4 seconds. I'm running a bit slow today, just over 5 meg download and I'm usually betweem 8 and 11, but still not too bad.
