There are many threads about Macs v's PC, so I thought it would be interesting to place this poll, to see what the positions are.

1. I have a Mac
2. I have a PC
3. I have both

I think you meant OSX or Windows, since hardware wise macs basically are PCs now.

Mac user once more trying to convert you to a system that really isn't that different and for you, not worth switching to in the grand scheme of things. Cancel or allow?

It doesn't really matter. As long as you can get the same quality software.
It's nice to be able to build your own computer though if you want and put in parts that you know are quality. So my hand is forced. Now if i could put OSX on it vs. Windows, that's a diff story.

I like to build too.

Hello.

My name is Steve, and I am a Macaholic . . . .

I've been in the computer-related business since 1983, and have had PC's since IBM first produced the PC. My first hard drive was a 10MB external unit that cost $750. I have lived and breathed PC's and networking for more than 20 years.

In 2006, I bought my first Mac, a MacBook Pro. I love OS-X. I love my Mac. I have been running PSCS3 and Lightroom on it a lot. I will be converting my main home photography workstation from a killer CoreDuo PC to a high powered Mac workstation later this year.

I am a Macaholic.

PC here. I wish I could afford to convert to Mac, but I have too much invested in PC software to do so.

I bought my wife an ipod...kind of cool product, but overly restrictive. I actually thought about buying a mac notebook, then I saw those damn adds...yeah, no thanks.

I have a PC at home and depending on where I'm working I'll be using a mac or a pc (web design and programming stuff). Macs drive me insane so I can't imagine what it would take for me to get one at home.

Wow, we almost made it a whole page without the dreaded Mac Vs. PC Holy War showing up. Cleaned up now, so hopefully the next group to find the thread won't re-start the flame.

Folks, vote, comment if you want, but arguing over which is better will get this thread locked like so many others...

PC user. There was a point last year, where I thought I'd buy my first Mac product (the 23" Cinema monitor), but going to 3 Mac stores non of which had a 'working' monitor ("err the power supply is dead on that one") and being laughed at and bugged to switch to a Mac computer from the fanboy sales person in store, made me walk out and not think twice about it.

The funny thing was I told him I ran linux dual boot with xp, and he said that linux sucks. I didn't have the heart to get in the conversation that osx is built on a unit platform.

Macs have always been PCs. The things people often call a PC are actually IBM Compatible PCs.

Should have had an option "all three". I have always had both or at least had both for a very long time. My very first machine was the Apple II and shortly there after I picked up a IBM. Right now I have my PC as my primary machine, a Dell Latitude, I have a second PC running Suse, and I have a Powerbook.

I used macs since the early days of my first macintosh plus. :)

until a few years ago when I realized i could build a pc (easily) for chump change that did everything i needed and was easily upgradable.

i love macs but i don't make enough money to mess with them.

"Macs" did not exist back when I was playing with an Apple IIE

Used Macs for years, from when twin floppy systems where top of the tree and HD's were exceptionally expensive external add on's! Then I started building my own Windows PC for a craik and did the MCSE for even more craik while I was living in South Africa. Stuck with self build PC's ever since but can happily use either very well. I could easily shift to Mac but can't bothered.

There wasn't an option for 'happy with either and others should just get over it, same as all those Nikon rules or Canon rules a***oles' ;-)

Interesting... Outof 100 responses, users of Linux 0, Solaris, 0, Unix,0. It would be different if Linux had been included alone with PC or Mac. Then count me as Linux user, just not my primary machine.

i am going to have to vote for that. had a mac for 2 years and was very happy with it. i decided i wanted to play more games as well as build my own so switched to pc. now i have a pc windows which i love and my wife has an imac which i also love. as long as they do what i want, i really don't care what company made them.

PC. I love Mac, but I've used PC at home for 20 years and am happy. I still miss MSDos- nothing better than seeing your directory with dir /p and copying using copy c:/alan/photos/*.jpg a:/photos/
