Some wrote in the rebate thread ”Yes... wait until April." I am looking to buy the EOS 30D and I am getting impatient but also I am waiting for a good sale and/or discount coupons, rebates etc.

Should I really wait till April??? Is there something in the works? Is April a good sale month for cameras?

Thanks!

Most of us here thought the replacement for the 30D would have been announced by now, and at this point it is overdue, so whenever the next rebates begin, the 30D will almost certainly be at the top of the list. If you can wait, it will probably be worth your while.

Have Fun,

45-60 days ago I saw 30Ds everywhere in my local area. Now they are hard to find. Looks like any purchase I might make will have to be made online if I hope to score the fictional rebate. Although I predicted 4Q for next 30D rebate in the US...

Rebates are also on in Europe and Canada but nothing in the US.

It's May and no rebates here in the US!

I don't understand why. It seems the rest of the world has them, why not us?

In the US they extended the last rebate cycle, so some people think they will start the new rebate cycle late... Perhaps not until May 15th.

...you will be waiting until almost Christmas for a 30D replacement. I think they need an update to be sure, but I fail to see why so many people want the 40D to come out. I mean seriously is it going to improve people's photography, are they going to take 'better' photos all of a sudden. Most people are far better off taking their cash to the local community college and taking a photography course or two.

Just curious where you heard that rumor.. I hadn't heard a peep (but I also wasn't listening that hard either).

i guess from here: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/digital/rumors.html

"While nothing is for sure until it actually happens, it now seems highly probable that a Canon rebate program for the US will be officially announced on May 17th. I will have full details on the rebates page (http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/digital/rebates.html) as soon as an official announcement is released. Preliminary data suggests that there will be rebates from $25 to $100 on a number of lenses and it looks like it will be an "Instant Rebate". I'm not quite sure what the mechanics of this will be, but if it avoids mailing rebate forms and proof of purchase to a 3rd party rebate fulfillment company, it can only be a good thing! I have no information that there will be rebates on any camera bodies this spring, so if you were waiting for a lower price on a 5D or 30D, you may be disappointed."
