Great shot Rudi!

You have really got these macro flower shots looking great! Your depth of field is excellent. This must be that new lense you have been talking about recently. I bet you are happy with it, or at least you should be! ;)

My flower macros are on hold for a couple of weeks as we have had hail three times in the last week, maybe more on the way tonight. Beat my subjects up to the point that I will have to wait till they heal.:( Of course, my G2 doesn't have the ability to easily get the dof that your slr does, but I have been playing with software that really helps this out. I will share when I can.

Please continue to show me/us your best stuff.

THANKS for sharing.

Eric,

actually, this one was taken quite some time ago, while I was still learning the D30. It was only shot as a FINE JPEG (which I regret now, but at that time I didn't want the added complication of RAW conversion, and my computer system was slow...).

Shot handheld with the 28-135mm IS lens (this one is quite a nice macro performer in its own right) in the shadows behind a friend's house, in the late afternoon.

With your G2, one way to get shallower DOF is to shoot in Macro Mode (and, of course, shoot with the lens wide open). If Macro Mode allows you to focus closer, then this should work (did on my Coolpix 990 in the old days... :)). Of course, you will then have to get closer to the subject, to make the lens work in macro, and reduce the DOF...
