you know it's made by Anheuser-Busch, don't you?

I'm not sure what bearing that has on the taste of the brew.

A-B is very good at a consistent product, just not very good at a tasty product.

btw, i've had the bare knuckle stout. as an A-B product it's actually pretty good, but compared to other stouts, it doesn't fare too well.

I am all over the shop with beer, from Corona to Duvel to Asahi to Peroni Gran Reserve
to Chimay Grand Reserve to cheap and nasty Macedonian beer to local stuff and just about anything in between. I wont drink the mainstream Aussie or American beers though

I wouldn't call them the "best" but what I typically drink:
Yuengling
Killians
Bass
Newcastle Brown Ale

The only thing I wouldn't buy is the american pilsner style beers like bud or miller. I'll drink them...just wont buy them for myself :p

My favorite beer has to be guinness. But you can't drink too many too often. So my favorite casual drinking beer is Killians Red (although I'm rethinking this for personal moral reasons). My cousin is the vice president of distribution for a company that sell's every kind of beer except for Budweiser. Mayhaps I'll have to hit him up for a thorough cross-branded taste-test extraordinaire to determine my new favoritist beer. ;) I'll post results once they're in.

I was enjoying an Amber Bock when I found this thread, but my son recently introduced me to Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout... probably have to call this one my favorite to date. Goose Island Oatmeal Stout is very good, too.

I don't know if I would really consider Honkers a "pale ale".

What would you call it? Maybe more like an ESB?

Being from Ft. Collins I am a bit spoiled but I'd probably have to say Odell's Easy Street Wheat with a lemon wedge in the summertime and Fat Tire in the winter, but in the fall don't forget New Belgium's Frambozen, can't beat it.

I'm a GUINNESS man, but only from tap.
Another of my favorites is Barbär Blond from Belgium.
Still haven't tasted good beer from US.

Casual everyday beer for me is Finnish Karhu

My #1 is Yuengling, which is impossible to locate around here. But when I'm in florida (1 or 2 times a year) or any north eastern state (rarely) and you get it on tap... Liquid gold!

My #2 is Bass, a good store beer that you can find anywhere..but you must drink it slightly warm.

My #3 is the local stuff.

Everything else is blah to me.

Samuel Smiths in Tadcaster is one of the best brewerys in the world. i have sampled all their beers in the past and love EVERy one of them. I miss their Lager though. They had one before the Organic Lager that was WAY better.
Alaskan Brewing Co is my second favorite. Alaskan Amber being the favorite out of theirs. The smoked porter they make is a close second. You can only get Alaskan in Alaska, Washington and Oregon though.

Since being diagnosed with Celiac disease I can now only drink gluten free beer, made of Sorghum. It's just as good but very limited in selection. I've had two in the 1yr plus that I've been Celiac. A-B makes one, forget the name but it's actually not bad. Another company in San Jose makes one called Bards Tale or something like that. It's much better imho.

Other mentionables, Newcastle Nut Brown, Youngs Chocolate Stout, Deschutes Black Butte Porter.. I used to prefer dark beer.

Damn, I feel so left out in this thread...I don't know 75% of the names you all mentioned. Mainly because I'm in Brazil, but I'll leave my opinion anyway...

I can't choose ONE favorite...that would have to be "The Cold One", but some of the best ones are:
Erdinger
Paulaner
Guinness
Corona
...and some Brazilian brands such as SKOL, Bohemia, and Polar. :D

There are soooo many beers I still have to taste!! I gotta travel more! :)

Well as far as my post goes, Alaskan and Deschuttes are local to the Pacific Northwest States. Most people have probably never heard of them. we have a TON of local micro-brews in this area. I miss being able to drink them a lot.

Another Sam Adams fan, the Boston Lager is my normal drink. I drink Cherry Wheat cause it tastes like candy. Dogfish head (local brewery, anyone near Delaware who enjoys beer must check them out) Raison D'Etre, tastey and 8% alcohol. Yuengling is also a very good beer to keep in the fridge, currently have two 12 packs, next to my Sam Adams and Dogfish head of course. I'm not an alcoholic...

I just spent 4 days shooting for a Budweiser Distributor...

After a 12 hour day of shooting beer, Bud never tasted so good!

Not sure if this was said, since I only read this page, but my favorite beers are ranked:
1: My first one (uh, 7th grade, after flag football, behind my middle school)
2: Anyone I drank after a rugby game, duathlon, bike race, etc...
3: A free one
4: Well, see #1 as it fit #2 and #3 as well!

I like most local Vermont brews. Magic Hat, Otter Creek, Long Trail. I haven't experienced a lot of imported beers etc so my selection is limited but my favorite beer is Hibernator by Long Trail.

not to get off track, but how many others have a seperate fridge for their beer collection? Yours truely...one microfridge on the patio and one fullsize in the garage. Does this make me an alcholic?

My personal favorites are:

*Sam Adams Boston Lager
*Guiness
*Niksico Tamno (black) - we drank this often while travelling through eastern europe
