I was pleased at how this shot came out but what would have made it better?

It's missing something front and centre - there's a big backdrop with nothing there.

Maybe a slightly higher vantage point would show more of that beautiful tree-line and reduced the effect of the sun in the top left, and a bit of cropping of the top and bottom 'space' would have resulted in a photo containing a contrasting of textures and colours.

I would have been tempted to experiment with a faster shutter to maybe add some detail to the water, or maybe slow it down to get a softer texture.

heers,
Mick.

Hey, I like it, nice job. Kind of other-worldly

I know what would make it better - you should take the shot from a higher position, so that trees are more visible.

A higher perspective could help but I like this angle, it looks like clouds (I know its water) are coming up from the ground. Somewhat surreal. :D

I like really this - it makes you think when you first view it and its not until you see and define the trees in the centre that the rest of the picture comes into view. It makes a nice abstract which is not really abstract!

I like how the water is frozen in time - almost like icicles which are up-side-down.

Nice work Andy

Thanks for the comments.

I agree a higher viewpoint might have been better but I needed to hide people up on the bank behind the water. Perhaps I'll visit again when there's few people around and perhaps when the trees are green. I admit I did have to clone out an unwanted head that spoilt the abstract view but I couldn't find much for the foreground.

Regards

Andy

I like it, but agree with others about the angle. What really distracts me though is the text and link at the bottom. It makes it hard to focus on the picture itself, my eyes keep wanting to go to the text. Maybe cleaner font w/ a little transparency would be less distracting.
