Played around today shooting some shots of guns. I like how this one turned out:

Guns and cameras always go together, lol. Great photos. I love pictures of old west guns.

Guns and cameras always go together around our house. That's an excellent picture of a beautiful piece. The composition and the light are both terrific. Nice leather too.

Very nice. If you're into gun photography Google Oleg Volk and check out some of his work.

I think you captured the shot beautifully. Nice setup, excellent lighting, colors are outstanding. Colt should want that for a poster.

Both versions are excellent but the color version is spot on. Nice job.

Great job on the photo. You were able to capture the detail of the case hardened receiver the richness of the gun bluing. The leather book and belt are stunning!!

IF you don't mind me asking, what was your setup for this shot? (camera, lens, lighting, the usual)

You can shoot a camera. You can shoot a gun.... Seems to me they go together just fine!
Very nice. If you're into gun photography Google Oleg Volk and check out some of his work.
He does amazing work, and I'm a big fan of one of his usual subjects (http://olegvolk.net/gallery/d/2333-2/comfortablekit.jpg) as well.

Your setup here looks great.
I would leave it resting on the table for safety. Once you start telling your model/assistant to raise the gun up a bit more because you can't see straight into the barrell - that's when you have the problems.

Thanks for asking. This was shot with a 5D and a 24-105 f/4L lens. For lighting it was a pretty standard setup. I had a softbox 45 degrees (approx.) to the right with a white umbrella providing fill from the left. I had the fill dialed down enough to leave shadows, but with some detail left in them.
