:?: What Speed CF card should I purchase? :?:

I Have a Canon Digital IXUS 400 and would like to purchase a new CF card. There are many on the market, and these come in a range of 'speeds' - from 4x to 40x. I could go for a 'high speed' 256mb, or just a 'normal' 512mb...

Q: Is there a limit to which my IXUS 400 can write to a CF card? (It would be useless buying a 40x CF card if the camera can only write to it at, for example 4x) What is the fastest CF card that the 400 will take advantage of?

Q: If I can use high-speed CF, Will I notice any benifits from purchasing such a card, for example 12x or even 40x?

(ps: the 'IXUS 400' is know as 'Powershot S400' state-side)

Many thanks in advance... :D

Don't bother to go for the high-speed, your camera won't benefit from it so it would be a waste of money :? .

Only some digital SLR's have processors fast enough to write to a card faster than 'standard'.

thank you...

So no 'speed rated' CF card is going to be any better? (not even 4x ?)

CF cards that are not listed with a 'X' speed - do I presume they are 1x?

Take a look at this site http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007 and you will see that 40x doesn't even come close to ten times as fast as 4x when used in a camera like the $ 8,000.-- plus Canon EOS 1Ds.
