Ive finally booked a holiday (first one in 9 years or so) its a bit of a good one IMO taking in lots of sights etc including the italian GP.

im sorting out a basic itinneray (SP) i know its not untill spetember but i like ot be prepaired) and was wondering where are some good sights to see in Milan and Venice. and or any tips about the places or country as i havnt got a clue.

Bought the GP tickets last night direct from the circuit

finalised our holiday plans,

we are going to fly to Milan on the 3rd september, stay there 4 nights till friday then go Lesmo, just out side of Monza. about 3km, stay there for 3 nights till Monday then train back to Millan to then go on to Venice, well mestre, just out side of Venice for 4 more nights then fly home from venice air port.

CLick for my Holiday Details (http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=44.150681~12.86499&style=r&lvl=7&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=5864692&cid=B0E7631E901162C2!107)

had a look at trains from Millan to Venice and bloody hell they are good, 2.5 hours 160miles, Eurostar 2 people with bags in first class with window seats £42 thats for the both of us, thats cheaper than going to london cattle class.

Flights £140 for the both of us.
Hotel in Milan £265
B&B In Lesmo £300
Hotel In mestre £211

so thats about £920 plus our GP tickets £405 thats £1325, £200 less than i thought it would cost.

plus all travel costs, so i recon final cost before food and beer is £1375 for 12 days in italy seeing alot and going to the Italian GP

Congrats on the holiday. I went to Italy last year but I was more north, in the Tuscany and Umbria regions. You probably won't want to travel this far while you are there but I can highly reccomment a visit to Siena, Assisi and San Gimignano if you do.

you were up im them thar hills then, that must have been lovely.

i was thinking of hiring a car to drive from Milan to Venice and drive in to switzerland and drive up the alps a bit, but i think it would cost a fortune ot do so,

cool, i'll have a look at making a detour at those areas,

I've been to Rome many times. The modus operandi of pickpockets there seems to be to go for busses and trains that are jam packed. There's not so much mugging as pick-pocketing going on.

I would recommend going to see Cinques Terres. It is a popular destination. It is a series of 5 villages along the north-western coast of Italy carved out of the cliffs. Breath taking views!
