Anyone know of a good list of D30 compatible CF cards?
I know of a few lists that companies put together...but those only include their cards...I want one with all different companies on it.

I am fairly new to the digital side of photography and at the risk of embarassing myself............... As far as compatibility is concerned, I thought a CF card was a CF card? I know certain makes may have better build quality and reliability than others and that some have faster speeds etc (although I have read that a lot of cameras are unable to utilise this extra speed in camera), but as far as compatibility in concerned, I was not aware there was an issue.
Am I missing something?........ :? If I am I need to learn about this one!

That's what I thought...Untill I won a San Disk 256 CF on E-bay. Luckily the guy was nice enough to take it back.

The problem was probably with that CF card. Check out CF card rankings for the D30 at:

I'm not an expert in this subject, but I know of two limitations/considerations with the CF format, neither of which should have been in play with a 256mb card.
There are two TYPES of CF cards - CompactFlash Type I and CompactFlash Type II. There is a physical difference here - the Type II is thicker than the Type I, so you can't put a Type II into a device that will only support Type I. Microdrives are all made in the Type II form factor, I believe. And I'm pretty sure all of the Sandisk cards are Type I.
The other issue relates to the file system in the card and the device. FAT (File Allocation Table) is the normal configuration, but FAT can only address 2 gigabytes of data, so FAT32 came along. The device (camera, in this case) must support FAT32 to enable it to access more than 2gb. There again, that should not play a part in this issue.
The D30 should be compatible with any normal CF card, considering the above. Perhaps you need to format the card - first in the computer if you can, then in the camera. If you think there may be some limitations on the D30, contact Canon Tech Support and see what they say.
Hope this helps.

my D30 supports my sandisk 128mb 256mb and 1GB ibm MD
and there should be no problems with any normal CF card in your D30
and microdrives are also supported!
