B&W Circular Polorizer info

I'm going on a trip to D.R. and bought a B&W CP filter. I've visited the website and some other sites, but can't get any good info on how to use it. I know the basic concept, but would like to get some more concrete info, before I go down as I may not have easy access to a CPU.

Just mount it and rotate it for maximum reduction of glare, or intensity of colour. It works best on sunny days - forget about it if it's overcast (you'll need the light more anyhow). It has the max. effect on the sky when you're aiming at right angles to the sun (hold your hand out, index finger pointing at the sun and thumb at right angles to it; as you pivot your hand around while keeping pointing at the sun, your thumb will be pointing at the zone of max. polarizing effect).
