I have a couple of shots from a Canon D-30 that I want to print poster size. I have access to a ColorSpan Lightwave series XII. What do I need to do with the file from the camera in order to get a high quality poster? 24"X36" Any suggestions of which graphic software to use?
Thanks,

Ideally you need to upsample your images to the size you want at 250-300 dpi. There are various ways to go about it. What software do you have?

If you have Photoshop already, then Fred Miranda offers his Stair Interpolation action at; http://www.fredmiranda.com

Alternatively, a guy named Stephen (NYPhotographics, I think) posts in the DPReview Canon SLR forum. A few months ago he posted some Photoshop actions that he uses to blow his shots up to 60" or more! The URL for his posting is; http://www.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1003&message=2127581

Other people swear by a program called Genuine Fractals, I can't comment on that though, as I haven't used it.

I have had a couple of 20"x30" prints done, and I upsampled in Photoshop to twice the final required size, applied a fairly aggressive unsharp mask, then used Irfanview (freeware from www.irfanview.com) to downsize to my final 20"x30" @ 300dpi, using the Lanczos resample setting. They came out a treat.

If you don't have any suitable software yet, then give Ifranview a try. The only thing that I think is missing is an unsharp mask, but it does have a sharpen that isn't too aggressive and could be applied in several stages.

Hehe, I bashed that lot out including looking for the DPReview thread, then I noticed that Stephen's been posting in here, starting the current thread "Some D30 vs D60 samples".
He's also posted the URL for his upsizing actions.

I appreciate the information. I haven't chosen a software pack yet. Onyx postershop is one that I have been reading about, but have not gotten user feed back on it. I just starting some digital photo classes and this site has been a great tool in pointing out all that I don't know....which is quite a bit...!!
Thanks again.
