Just intsalled the Engine to this site. Freehostingweb.com which I have an account with. They have SQL database and php myadmin. This is all new to me but I have successfully installed all files to this path. yorkphotoweb.com/gallery but for some reason it will not connect. Here is the changes:
$dbcnx=mysql_connect ("localhost", "yorkphot_Brad", "") or die ('I cannot connect to the database.');
mysql_select_db ("yorkphot_gallery") . When I try the step of Run setup.php on your server it still can not find the file. I can see all of my files on the server and everything appears in the correct place. I just don't understand if I must use php myadmin or what.
Some clues please.

My first SQL project so don't beat me up too bad.

Thanks for the help
Brad

If setup.php is correctly placed in your public_html/gallery/ folder then there should not be any problem running setup.php from browser.

If you can't, open a help desk ticket and ask freehostingweb what's the problem. Maybe the PHP is not installed correctly on you domain, or on your server PHP files require some specific file permissions.

Thanks Pekka for the answer. Sorry to bother you but I am new at this SQL and PHP stuff so here goes another error that I get.
Parse error: parse error in /home/yorkphot/public_html/gallery/add/connect.php on line 6

No Database Selected

IN QUERY
DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `ee_camera`

Thanks for all the help.

Must be your modified connect.php.

Use the original 1.10 connect.php and put your passes etc. there. 1.10 connect.php gives you more detailed error messages.

Doublecheck password, database name, and host name.

One more question about the engine. I can see my thumbs and microthumbs but when I think that I have my photos in the correct directory then I can't see the original photo. I must not see how to set this part up. Also the size/path editor I can see your D-30 photos in the used in portion of the table. I don't see my Canon Pro90 in that list. I must be missing this also somehwere.

So you accept anything beside PayPal. I would love to use this exclusively on my website and will be willing to pay for it but I am not registered with paypal.
Thanks for all the help.

Hi Brad,

Check that
a) in path editor you have working paths for your photos
b) one of those paths has variable "default". If there is only one path you use, it MUST be named default in order you to see it.
c) edit photos and see that the working path is selected in photo editor for each photo.

If this does not help, mail me you gallery editor address, and info where the photos are and I'll set it up for you.

The next version of EE will have a 'path analyser', which checks the files physically from each path for each photo. Maybe that helps new users a bit.
