Monochrome or Color (Yes Another One!)

Seeking comment on 1) the subject matter - contrasting textures, 2) the composition - shell was there, I did not place it, and 3), the use or not of monochrome. Thanks!

I like both treatments of the image but feel that a little closer would have helped to show the convolutions of the shell a little more, there's also water in that shell which coud have bee brought out more.

The composition and DOF is spot on - if I had to choose I'd go for the B&W as it seems to bring out the highlights on the wood a little more than the colour one does.

Yes.... For the b&w..... I like it... I would for sure hang this pick in my weekend house. I would tinker with the "blacks, neutrals just a lil bit.

The color just doesnt grab me.
