Buy the cheapest/lowest capacity usb2/firewire drive you can find - or just the case if you can find one and put a Seagate Barracuda 200GB 7200RPM disk inside it.
The disk will cost you approx $130.

I don't want them to be on the web because if there server gets a virus, bye bye all my pictures. evilenglishman, I will look into that.

I believe there are things they call a 'digital wallet' that may be what you want.

Mine is branded an X-drive and is a 30gig hd about the size of a walkman. It uses rechargable batteries and a car/mains charger is supplied, as is the USB cable to connect it to your computer.

What I like about it is its ability to read multiple format memory cards as well - drop a full card into it, press the copy button and it places all the images on the card onto the drive. Fantastic working in the field as you don't need to cart your laptop around with you.

I bought it here in Australia, but as a comparson costing, it was 50% more than my 512meg flash card.

There are also these cool bits called a FlashTrax drive, available from B&H now that they are open again. They aren't cheap but you can llok at ur pics immediately, after putting the CF card in, or downloading them to it. They aren't cheap though. They come in 30 GB, 40 GB, 80 GB flavours. I highly reccommend getting a 2nd battery if you plan to do a lot of shooting, like shooting RAW and more then say 3-5GB a go! This will vary according to temperature you shoot in, and you might get more. I have gotten 3 GB (6x 512MB cards) w/o having to swap. I have 2 that I use interchangably. When one burns out, I swap and shoot w/ the other one and then when it burns out I swap again and so on.

Thanks for all your comments. I got a XIMETA NetDisk 160GB hard drive. I got this because I want it on my LAN to put pictures that are older and not looked at a lot. Thanks!

I have the original X-Drive too, and so far I'm satisfied by its performance and functionality. The only thing I don't like about this piece of equipment is the lack of any confirmation / verification that the images transfer was performed OK. Recently I went to a trip in Europe with just 2 256MB CF cards and my 20GB X-Drive, and because I wasn't sure that the images were copied OK to the X-Drive, I copied every CF twice - just to make sure. Luckily I didn't run out of storage, but on longer trips that could occur ...
