I got sometimes an "ERR 99" which is cleared with an ON/OFF, using CANON lenses.
Did somebody find out a similar problem ?
10D - 17/40 F4 L - 70/200 F4 L :?:

The problem with the ERR-99 message is that it's so non-specific. From what I gather, that simply denotes any error that doesn't have a specific code assigned, and there are only a couple of those. Accordingly, it could be just about anything. I've never gotten that message with a Canon lens....only a Sigma (older one).
Does it happen with both your lenses, or just one?

I started getting error 99 and sent my 10d and 16-35L lens into Canon Irvine repair. Spoke to the tech who said the problem is USUALLY related to the contacts between the lens and the camera! Recieved camera back 3days later and no problems since. Try cleaning the lens contacts first.

Thanks for the answers.
Anyway, it's a brand new one...
The error has been reported more frequently in multishot mode. This is not the case for me.
My 70-200 F4L does not generate errors..

Did they change something or fix something? It would be interesting to know whether the fault was on the lens side or on the camera lens mount side.
