Right now I am working on a series of photo-illustrations, a bit similar to the other illustrations (http://www.edwinbont.nl/gallery/illustration/1/index.html) i made but now I am using oilpaint which makes it look so much better.
I might turn this into a book and/or animation movie.
I love working on this project and to discover new techniques and materials.

This series of illustrations will be about my uncle who died exectly one year ago when he was 81.
The first one will be set in a factoryhall with a stockroom were my uncle used to work his whole live.
When he told me about it I always visualised how it would look like.
So now I am making all these pictures I saw when he told a story.
He was a great uncle and lived in his parents house.
It was the meetingplace for the family on sundaymorning, that was very nice.
Whatever happend I always visited him on sunday, his very strong coffee was a good medicine against a hangover.

#1 Rack, there will be more stuff on the shelfs soon

#3 To finished model

#4 The stockroom is getting shape

#5 Now it is time to make the building itself.

#6 Wall and floor detail
http://www.edwinbont.nl/forums/Illustraties_Jaap/hoek.jpg
I had a hard time making the concrete floor, paper would be too smooth.
Then, by accident, I discovered that plaster-filler would give me the right texture.
Although i wanted to make this all out of paper, plaster filler fits well and is very handy.
I use it to glue things and to make things seamless , like the loadingdoc in the next picture.

#7 Fully concentrated while painting

#8 And this is what it looks like right now.
Still far from finished.

Love it, love it, love it.

Truly amazing stuff here man. I loved getting to see your process as you work towards a finished set for your pictures.

I also looked around on your web site for a while. Awesome macro shots and the article on Photo-Illustration is definitely VERY cool.

All of this has definitely inspired me to get creative at home when going out to shoot is too much of a hassle.

I truly appreciate all of the time that goes into your work and it definitely payd off in the end for you.

Best of luck and be sure to keep us posted with your current project.

Photo-Illustration, I really never even thought of doing that with my camera. These are fantastic! I saw one of these in the 3D post area and I didn't have a clue that it wasn't real...it was cooler then real. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your stuff, hopefully more in 3D as well.

I'm curious if you had ever been to where he had worked? If you hadn't, it'd be interesting if you could go see it (assuming it is still standing and/or hadn't changed much since he had worked there, or at least see photos of it) once your model is done to see how close your concept from his description meets reality.
