Well this was my first time EVER taking concert photos, and well I really enjoyed it.

I had to shoot at 1600ISO which was a first for me and when I got the pictures into aperture I was really disappointed with the noise and felt a little demoralized ;) I had to also shoot at F2.8 which meant I got some screwy DOF.

What I did learn:

The PA was big enough for wembly and ear plugs will be required next time
Using the center focus point only was a big help
I love the 24-70 F2.8 L

Without further ado here are a few of my favorite pics. I picked them to simply pick up the ferocity and emotion of the performance, they're a great bunch of lads.

Looks like lighting was pretty bad.
I like #4. All of the images could benefit from a bit of processsing and cropping.

Well, from this end, I'd say I like all of these... there are areas that could be enhanced a touch, here and there... let's see....
By the way, which camera was this with? I don't see any sign of noise in these... Did you use some noise reduction?
Generally speaking, most could be also presented in a tighter crop...

My primary objective, usually, is to work on the face first... therefore, the tones would reflect a more natural skin color...
And there is an occasional issue of more sharpness...maybe taking a lot more pictures would result in more sharp close ups...

The issue of cutting peoples limbs off at, let's say for example, the ankle, could be avoided next time... So, all in all this is a fairly reasonable set... I'm very critical though... but then, I myself have tried to pass off pictures with similar results... So, welcome to the forum... hopefully, I've broken the ice for you... and you will now be tempered enough to weather any other harsh criticism...

Thanks for the critique, anything to make me a better photographer ;) the lighting was awful and was a massive challenge to work with.

the lighting was awful and was a massive challenge to work with.

Flapper does have awfull light doesn't it! And also standing in front of the stage really hurts the ears for a whole set! I shot Beat Union there a while back before I left the country and had to shoot ISO1600 f/2.8.

I think you did a great job, especially considering the conditions. Last time I shot it I had to compete with two other photogs who were both using flash.
