what do people think of this honestly.

I think it is nice. I like like the contrast of it, but it might be a bit busy for some people. I guess it depends on what image you are trying to portray. If you are going for the wedding photography and portraiture market I would think something less stark and more soft would be more appealing your clients. If, however, you are doing a lot architectural photography, fashion, etc. it might work.

Personally it is one of the better ones I've seen on these boards.

Its a tough call. I am a fan of simplicity and I like the "LD" but not a fan of the font used for "Lingham Designs" ( I know its the same as the monogram). Its like graffiti tags or old English tattoos, take a second or two to get it.

see i love the outside but unsure of the middle...i have a big black square but unsure what to fill it with

any ideas are welcome by all means. nothing rejected

Simple is always better. A good reference is some large corporations. Look at Nike's swoosh for example. Easy to remember. Google is simple as well. As a previous poster mentioned, try not to make it so busy.

what would you change...im happy for it to be changed?

Simplicity is the key to a good Logotype. It should be recognizable almost instantly. I had to really look hard to see what the out of proportion initials are. As mentioned, the typeface shapes do not make for good eye flow.

At least put 'lingham' on the left side of the black square so the word 'design' is horizontal making it more readable. The way it is, your attention is directed up and off the page.

Here is mine, just another way to do it.

can you have a play with it for me so i get some ideas?

Just a quick thought here. You could just add the text underneath if you want it in there.

so you dont like the whole logo idea?

you would remove the square and just put the font underneath?

I don't like it, and don't know why I don't like it.

The square just adds bulk, esp. if you are going to post it on a your pictures.

My logo is so simple its basically just a B I did on the Wacom. (font subject to change)

Too hard to read, definitely consider using a different typeface.

Here's my go at it.

I really like your center design, but I found the font around it a bit hard to read for my taste.

I did one in and out of a box.

Nice improvement to his logo design.

-Clean
-Easy to Read
& still creatively artistic

Well Done!

changed the font

i like the look of this logo so will have a few versions of it i think including an in and out of box look

Hawg Hanner

Nah, the serifs on the font are too busy. I would stick with something without serifs. Also, the difference in font sizes between 'Lingham' and 'Designs' is far too distracting. I really think Fuzzy has the right idea. I would stick within the parameters of what he's done.

will use his first idea and play with that i think...

Just try it with different non-serif fonts and see what you like...experiment.

Myriad.

I did the mock up in Illustrator - if you want those files, I'll be happy to send them along. Just let me know what format you need them in.

I dont have anything better that I could suggest, but my initial reaction was trying to figure out what the heck it said. It looks like you and others are making some progress though. I have struggled with the same issue of trying to come up with a logo and so far I got nuttin
Good luck to ya I think your close

Make the text inside the black box larger so it fills the frame.

Honestly I like the whole idea but for the name outside the box use a simple but elegant font. Like Helvetica ultra light and that way it isn't heavy since the letters in the box are bolder.

The font used on yours is a cool font but hard on the eyes and you want people to read without too much hardship (3 seconds)

I would have to say you did a great job designing a unique logo. My problem with it is that I had to work too hard to figure out what it said. Some of the variations made that more obvious - it may go back to that old proverb: Only one chance to make a first impression. I think you are on the way to a good finish . . .
