Nice shot! Might want to clone out those two black squiggly things behind him but not a biggee.

It's a nice picture iterrier. Next time see if you can get the light at a better angle(On the front of the bird or with the sun directly behind you.) You could also try using some fill flash.

Excellent catch Joan. I don't think I've ever seen one. About how big is he? Somehow I had the idea they were Robin size, but this looks more like a sparrow.

They are about the size of a robin. According to my bird guide book they are actually a little bigger. They are really pretty in flight when you see the white patches on the underside of their wings.

Well, he looks a little rounder than a robin. :p

I like the idea of cloning out the squiggly things. In fact I cropped out the top part which was really distracting.

Thanks to all for your kind words.

Good point about the lighting. Trouble is that when I see a bird to photograph I snap the shutter first before it flies away, and don't think about the lighting until later.

Yes he does, but I've seen some pretty fat robins too.

Yeah, me too! You got the focus right on, though! Good job! I was nit-picking about the squiggley things...easy to look at a shot and see how to make it better but NOT THAT EASY to make the shot in the first place! :)

Very nice image. He does look small but probably because he is all puffed up. It was probably cold that day. Good job there Joan.

They are common around here, but are usually covered in trees by branches,or sitting on top of a rooftop antenna making a good shot of them difficult.
