Is there any prepay PCMCIA data card available for any of the UK mobile networks?

How about wifi access points in the UK?

Yes. That kind of thing. The only problem is that those listed are the cards only not the service. We'll be in the UK for 3 weeks and we'd like a prepay card rather than a contract. That way we're not tied into something we won't be using.

You may have to get a cheap 'pay-as-you-go' (pre-pay) mobile to get a SIM card, or some places will sell just the SIM card.

I understood it was more complicated than that.

Traditionally it goes:
Computer - modem - phone company - internet company
With the data cards the modem, phone and internet companies all seem rolled into one.

I've just emailed Vodafone so I'll see what they have to say. Generally (even when I was living in Britain) I found UK companies strangely reluctant to do business or to answer queries. It's quite unlike the US where every enquiry I make gets a sensible answer.
