The look/feel you were going for is there but it seems like it's hiding. The board corner that juts in at the bottom catches my eye. I think this would look good aged, either black and white or with bright highlights and the rest of the image fading to dark, possibly a sepia  I like the overall compostion, the wood that runs parallel to the chair is a nice touch.

Hope this helps :)

I agree with Idoc on the board in the corner, and personally, I dont care for the branchy strands. For some reason, that bit of organic does not fit with the rest of the image. I want to reach in and clear them away.

But onto color. I could not disagee more with Idoc on this. I feel that the desaturated color adds greatly to the image. The theme here that I see is one of discard and disuse. The desaturated but present color show me that not only is the subject of the photo in a state of disuse, the actual photo itself is likewise in a state of disue. Old. Faded. I like it alot.

Bravo.

Oh, one question - was the subject found, or staged?

thanks for the comments!

i'm still getting used to the idea of rearranging a found scene - i think it would have been better without the board - but it didn't occur to me at the time. when i go back, i'll take the photo again without the board - but the vines will stay.

it was a found scene. my wife's grandmother has and old abandonded house on her farm and this was in one of the back rooms. they have been piling junk in there for about 50 years. the floor, walls, and ceiling are falling down in the area where this was taken. so you're correct about the feeling of disue, radtech!

this is the full image. i think i found the best crop, but if anyone can suggest a better one, i'll try it!

I like this shot. Although it would look "less distracting" if the vegetation were removed, I feel that found subjects are just that, found. For some reason I am attracted to old dusty discarded things. This fits the bill> :)

I like the vines coming into the shot. It's nature claiming back the spot.

The cropped version is not as strong as the full frame version.

Perhaps the same shot during spring or summer when the vine has some leaves on it would show up nature claim it back better...

I found the washed out sunlight a bit of a bother, and I did think the image improves a bit if you crop off the 'outside.'
