Some more photos taken from last month's storm. I don't really like winter, but the sculpted ice/snow mix makes for great texture.

Great shots man - how did you isolate the red and yellow in shot #1 via PP? Love all of them for sure.

Cold! Great shots, really convey the fact that I don't want to be there. :p

I like the photos and the saturation of the photos. However, I really do dislike the inner drop shadow borders on each picture. IMO hurts rather than helps.
Like the comp of #1 the most. Nice work.

That was a pretty wicked storm. Luckily we're past that now since Spring is upon us (or already is for that matter).

Very nice images. I really like your work. Care to share some details of your PP methods? Edit: Actually I see some details in some other threads. Thanks!
Glad I was out of the country and missed the storm though.;)

of all these, i actually like number 3. but thats probably cause i've been biased to studying photos entailing an interplay of direct light and shadows lately. you know, i tried my hand at some street photography yesterday, and you have to have such a lightning eye - it need be almost intuitive. but upon seeing the photos, you're always pleasantly suprised by the little incidents or little happenings in the background you miss initially.... now why did i mention that... oh yea, the guy cleaning the windscreen of his car in the first photo. *grin* nice shots as always pio

I like the last one for its lighting and its diagonal lines made by the benches and the long shadows. The other two don't hold my interest for long despite the good PP work. And I have to agree with Denovo, for me the borders detract rather than enhance. And I have to agree with you -- the slush made for some great texture, especially in the first one.

Thanks for looking and for the comments! I am glad both of you brought up the darkened borders. I find myself going overboard a bit on these, and I see that the pictures here can stand by themselves without the added drama a border brings. Barbara, I love shadows, especially those caused by the sun's dying light. I seek them out as much as I can.

Thanks Jay! Light and shadows indeed make for dramatic photos. I agree that part of the fun in street photography is in seeing some details that you didn't realize were there. I took a peek at your latest post and I like them... will be posting a reaction later as I have to rush out. Thanks all!

BB, I don't know how I missed these initially.
#1 is a great capture. The crutches in the snow with the cab on the other side of the street.
I like the shadows in #3 also.
Thanks for sharing.

Great day to be out with the crutches :D. The desaturation is excellent and is absolutely perfect for this series. We are expecting snow for the next two days....hopefully it doesnt happen.

Absolutely love the third shot, the dirt and the snow is such a nice contrast and the lighting is spot on.

Thanks Ronnie and Scott! I do think the crutches really made the shot. And the person wiping his windshield in the background :) Can you believe it is plunging down to freezing again here in NYC, days after we hit 78+ degrees!
